December 08- Raking & Decorating
I can't get seem to these photos in any order. Notice the boy getting into the decorating spirit while Daddy checks the Blackberry and that E is looking for the NFL robot on TV while Daddy recovers from a morning of raking. I think we'll start a tradition now of eating pomegranate after decorating the tree. The little advent garden is what the Waldorf school had us make. The gnome and snail are my felted wool masterpieces (ahem).
Two other pictures are just cute - E wanting his cap on, and backwards, like Daddy, and E then covering his ears b/c I'd asked him to do that for a posed shot weeks earlier.
In development news, we are in a challenging place. Elliott is still mostly happy but is also having some anxious and intense emotions and wanting to nurse all the time. We no longer sleep through the night and have had some potty regression. It is an interesting push/pull time of independence and dependence: "I'm a big boy, I don't need to ____" vs. "I want to nurse. I need to nurse! Waa!" (followed by whimper, whimper) and "I was crying because I wanted you, Mama." He says he doesn't want to go to the sitter's but then has a fine time and actually naps there. We have had a handful of naps at home, too, but I don't plan on it. I do miss afternoon quiet but will take the early bedtime. If/when John stops being able to be home as early to join us for dinner (and when it stops being dark so gosh-awful early), I might change my mind and want more awake evening time (but only if I can have afternoon quiet time, which seems unlikely).
