December's social calendar
Elliott and I met Doug and Anne at Landmark Mall where we played on the soft playground, ate a snack, and took a ride on the choo-choo train that goes around the mall. Elliott and I were really late in arriving for our playdate, so Anne took Doug to Santa while she waited. After the train, I got Elliott happily into the stroller to do some shopping and decided taking him out for a Santa visit wasn’t in my best interest. Then we never ended up doing it before Christmas!
Elliott very much enjoyed the Scottish Walk in Old Town with two of his buddies from our Bradley class group. There w
ere lots of dogs, bagp
ipes and drums. It was fun! Elliott also enjoyed the “Walk through Bethlehem” petting zoo at a church,
and all of us adults were very excited when, upon going in to use the restroom after the parade, we were offered hot cider and invited to use their playroom. Julia is a week younger than Elliott and as you can tell is about a head taller (she’s off the charts on height while Elliott is about 10th percentile, 25th in weight).
My grad school friend Ellen met us at the Botanical Gardens, which she introduced me to two years ago when I was pregnant. I didn’t get the allure of the train display at the time, but I sure do now. It was quite elaborate, and the gardens were also lovely. We all enjoyed the sensory room with lots of spices to smell.

Our holiday Bradley reunion was fun, though we missed Henry, who had a fever, and Samuel who is on the other side of the globe.

We also had fun this month at playgroups, at our Parenting Playgroup class, and with Joey and baby Tony at our house. Elliott continues to have a great time at preschool, and he’s also enjoying going to Jenni’s home daycare and playing with her daughter, Charlie. The other child takes long naps, so I don’t think they play all that much. In another small-world moment, one day Jenni was hosting her friend with two children whose house was being packed up to move to Seattle. This friend is someone I’d met at a couple of Attachment Parenting meetings and would not forget, as her son was =Tristan, a name that came to me in a dream for our little boy before he was born but which John vetoed.
